Karen Elson, Julia Nobis, Jamie Bochert & Katlin Aas move as one in this aerial display of designs that dance. Steven Meisel captures bodies in motion for Valentino, F/W 2016/17. Figures frame the scene with lines unlike we’ve ever seen, as fabrics fill the air silk flows in a righteous flair. Each picture projects a sense of strength, balancing balletic movement with poetic intent. While lithe bodies bend, extend. hold and release allowing each to reach beyond its natural limits. Stylist, Karl Templer, mixes the music of nude with the dignity of black, forming a fusion of fashion fantasy. Fluid ensembles step with the scene as designs expose the shape of the stage. “Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli were seduced by dance this season, with leggings layered under skirts and heavy roll-neck sweaters.” Adhering to the conceptual tone, this strong piece merges music and style. The idea being, that when opposing forces take the same stage what we experience is a kind of melodic mutation. Polarity acts as inspiration, from ballet flats to combat boots, the excessive connection makes the story complete. Visual-Art dances across the screen inspiring an aerial dream. There’s a unique quality that speaks to the vibrancy of this collection. Features reflect the twinkle of lights as skin emits an otherworldly glow. Fashion takes flight, asPat McGrath defines the eyes with makeup that’s made for the sky. Bochert’s beauty beckons as Elsonswings in song, Nobis stretches to infinite as Katlin stands up strong. Limbs make the connection as fingers touch the tips. Unique dews start out by being restrained, only to leap to an unbound finale. Guido Palau brings the hair into focus by showcasing each grand strand like – dancers on display.
